Valentina Kuryliw is Keynote Speaker at the opening of the Social Studies Saskatchewan Conference “Genocide: Then and Now” (17-19 October) at the Grant Hall Hotelin Moose Jaw, SK.Organized by Social Studies Saskatchewan and the Manitoba Social Studies Teachers’ Association. This year’s Social Studies Saskatchewan (SSS) PD event addresses the impact of 20th century genocides (Armenia, Cambodia, the Holodomor, the Holocaust, and Rwanda) and more recent events (Burundi, Iraq, Myanmar, and South Sudan), as well the lasting effects of colonialism on the First Nations.
