TVO Partnership: Curriculum-aligned Teacher Support Resources on the Holodomor
As of September 2026, the Holodomor is included as a mandated area of learning in Ontario’s updated Grade 10 Canadian History curriculum (CHC2D/P)—bringing the history of the Holodomor into mainstream public education across the province. HREC Education was a consultant to the Ontario Ministry of Education on its revised curriculum expectations for this section and has been partnering with TVO Learn, the Ministry’s digital education resource support creator for educators, to support the ongoing development of credible, evidence-based, curriculum-aligned digital learning resources for teachers and students highlighting the development of critical and historical thinking skills.
Currently, TVO Learn hosts 2 curriculum-aligned digital learning modules on the Holodomor, available for FREE in both English and French, with more in development. These modules have HREC Education learning materials embedded in them. HREC Education and TVO continue partnership discussions on other opportunities to incorporate HREC’s learning materials into TVO’s educational resources; check back here for more.

Critical Thinking Consortium (TC2) Partnership: 2 Learning Modules on the Holodomor
This landmark three-year initiative was commissioned by HREC Education and developed in partnership with The Critical Thinking Consortium (TC²) to produce 2 comprehensive, inquiry-based and curriculum-aligned Holodomor learning units for Grades 6-9 and 10-12. These classroom-ready resources are available in both English and French through the TC² platform for FREE. Designed to engage students in critical and historical thinking, the units provide educators with rigorous, evidence-based approaches to teaching the Holodomor within broader historical, human rights, and civic contexts. This was made possible through the generous support and enduring commitment to Holodomor education of Eugene Yakovitch, whose legacy donation enabled the initiative, and the Temerty Foundation. Thank you to our co-creators and collaborative partners at TC²: Warren Woytuck, Atul Bahl and team.
